Past Events

Past events have ranged from visiting inner-city schools to partnering with local charity organizations to teach students and individuals about basic financial concepts. These events include empowering individuals with valuable life tools such as how to obtain student loans and financial aid for college, saving and budgeting for the homeless to get back on track, and stock simulations at elementary schools to teach basic stock knowledge for those who are intellectually curious from an early age. In addition to these educational initiatives, club members also participate in hands-on community service projects.

Examples of our past community service events include:

  • Members across GPS pods prepared, packaged, and transported breakfasts for homeless individuals in partnership with New York Cares and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

  • Members participated in a marathon fundraising event for cancer research centers.

  • Members regularly coordinate and serve dinners at local homeless shelters and food kitchens.

Examples of our past pod-level financial education initiatives include:

  • Colorado gave a presentation to men in a transitional community in Denver on basic financial planning and skills.

  • Georgetown began providing financial literacy tutoring sessions to local students in partnership with First Generation Investors.

  • Harvard and MIT held elementary school workshops teaching students the basics of investing, the stock market, how to invest, and the current market conditions today.

  • LSE presented to seventh-grade students to highlight how their school could be viewed as a business and the skills necessary to succeed now and in the future.

  • NYU gave a presentation to students in Long Island on the basics of commerce.
